We combine chile peppers, paprika, garlic and spices, and chunky onions, green chiles and tomatillo seeds, and slow-simmer them to create zesty heat. Prep is simple – just add to browned chicken, pork or beef and simmer in a Dutch oven or slow cooker. Serve over vegetables or rice, or use it as a filling for tacos or burritos.

    Receiving Instructions

    • Store unopened at room temperature for up to 24 months. Refrigerate after opening and use within 7 days.
    • Product may separate. Shake well before use.

    Preparation Instructions

    • Season 4 lb. (2 kg) boneless pork shoulder with salt and pepper.
    • If using a slow cooker, cut the pork into two equal pieces. In a large fry pan or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, warm 2 Tbs. oil. Brown the pork on all sides.
    • Slow cooker method: Transfer the pork to the insert and add 1 jar braising sauce. Cover and cook on high until the meat is fork-tender, 6 to 7 hours, turning the meat once halfway through.
    • Dutch oven method: 1 jar braising sauce and 1 cup (250 ml) water and bring to a simmer. Cover the pot tightly with foil and place the lid on top. Transfer to a 350°F (180°C) oven and cook until the meat is fork-tender, 3 to 4 hours, turning the meat once halfway through.
    • Skim the fat off the sauce. Shred the meat and serve.
