    RECEIVING INSTRUCTIONS

    • Sauce ships fresh at ambient temperature.
    • Upon receipt, store unopened at room temperature for up to 36 months. Once opened, store in refrigerator and enjoy within 1 week.

    PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS

     

    Birria Braised Beef

    Ingredients

    • 1 jar braising sauce (included)
    • 2 1/2 lb. (1.25kg) boneless beef chuck, cut into 3–4 equal pieces
    • Oil
    • Kosher salt
    • Pepper
    • Water

    Directions

    • Season beef with kosher salt and freshly ground pepper.
    • In large fry pan or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, warm 2 Tbs. oil. Working in batches, brown beef on all sides, approx. 8–10 minutes per batch.
    • If using slow cooker, transfer beef to insert and add braising sauce. Cover and cook on high until beef is fork-tender, approx. 2–3 hours.
    • If using Dutch oven, return all beef to pan. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Add braising sauce and 1 cup (250ml) water to pan and bring to a simmer. Cover pan tightly with aluminum foil, then cover with lid. Transfer to preheated oven and cook until beef is fork-tender, approx. 2 1/2–3 hours. Skim fat off sauce, shred beef and serve.
    • Serves 4.
    • Test Kitchen Tip: Serve on warm corn tortillas topped with onions, cilantro and squeeze of fresh lime juice.
